MyMuse The Intimate Brand Raises $2.7 Million in Record Pre-Series A Funding Round

In August 2022, the Mumbai-based startup had secured $1.2 million in funding from Saama Capital, Sauce VC, Whiteboard Capital, and a range of angel investors.

MyMuse, India's leading intimacy brand, has successfully raised $2.7 million in the largest pre-Series A funding round within the country's sexual wellness industry. The funding, a combination of debt and equity financing, saw active participation from existing institutional investors such as Saama Capital, Sauce VC, and Whiteboard Capital, reaffirming their confidence in MyMuse's vision. Unicorn backer Trifecta Capital and prominent angel investor Kunal Shah also joined the funding round.

Founded in 2021 by the husband-wife duo Sahil (HBS MBA '19, ex-Private Equity) and Anushka Gupta (ex-WeWork India, OML), MyMuse has emerged as India's foremost sexual wellness brand. Addressing a market need for high-quality adult products, the couple established a gender-neutral brand that redefines how Indians approach intimacy, emphasizing accessibility and enjoyment. MyMuse's product lineup includes discreet and well-designed items like full-body massagers, lubricants, oils, couple's games, and gift kits, complemented by original educational content that effectively challenges taboos and fosters a dedicated community.

With a remarkable monthly growth rate of approximately 15 percent, MyMuse has served over 150,000 customers across 800+ cities in India, spanning Tier I, II, and III markets. Through innovative and affordable product launches that reshape industry perceptions, MyMuse has played a pivotal role in catalyzing the growth and acceptance of an otherwise outdated and fragmented sector.

The recently secured funds of $2.7 million will be allocated to finance inventory, strengthen the brand's omnichannel presence, and expand distribution operations nationally. MyMuse also aims to diversify its product portfolio and enhance brand awareness through robust online and offline advertising and activations.

Sahil Gupta, Co-founder of MyMuse said, “We are constantly sold out of our most popular products, proving that demand far outstrips supply in our industry. When we look at the data on our product adoption, especially across Tier lll cities, we know we’re just touching the tip of the iceberg in solving a basic need for Indians that has been brushed under the carpet for far too long.”

Anushka Gupta, Co-Founder added, “Over the past 2+ years, we’ve witnessed incredible brand love and community support, demonstrating that Indians are truly ready to embrace sexual wellness as a part of their holistic wellbeing. We’re excited to keep bringing people products that improve their relationships with themselves and their partners.
